Day 9 - Lonlay-l’Abbaye

I am fearful about today's itinerary. It is seventy kilometers which is a normal distance but it comes after eight days of cycling and has over one thousand metres of ascent. I am tempted to pick another ride but can't bare not to stick with the plan. I can always do an easier day tomorrow. With a maximum of fifteen degrees centigrade forecast and not much sun I pack gloves and jacket.

An early lunch is had from the Boulangerie Pâtisserie.
Though I am looking for an excuse to pause the temptation of a granite museum doesn't quite do it for me; I do take the time to photo lots of granite though. Like many rural places the structures feel like they've grown out of the rock they stand on.
I am on the Tour de France 2025 route and see Wout van Aert's name emblazoned on the road. In 2025 this Dutchman rode for team "Visma/Lease A Bike".  It is hard supporting a cycle team as their names change according to the current year's sponsors. Imagine having to cheer on "Addidas/TeamViewer/Tezos/DXC Technology/Chevrole" instead of Manchester United.
It is a beautiful route though I am conscious of having to stay alert and concentrate as I tire.
I have mentioned that Lonlay-lʼAbbaye has an Abbey church but the Abbey also makes biscuits. This did not factor into my decision to stay here. Though I have seen where the biscuits are made I only recently noticed them piled on the shelves by the checkout in the local convenience store.
