Day 8 - Lonlay-l’Abbaye

I overslept this morning, if that's even possible on holiday, and just when I'm draining my coffee ready to head out a few spots of rain come. Oh well, rain jacket and gloves in the pannier and I'm off. For today I have shortened a route I found on Komoot to make it around 70km, and, I have picked out somewhere to eat if the timings work out.

This is a train station, or rather a goods yard, and the structure is to allow goods to be hauled up a long ramp ready to fill the wagons.
This rather strange structure is made from breeze blocks. It's so unusual I want to hate it but the structure grows on you.
Classic Normandy structure.
A watermill ripe for redevelopment.
Back in Lonlay-l’Abbaye I visit the Abbey church and its apples presses.
In summary then, taking a jacket ensured it didn't rain while I was out. My ten hours sleep was the best form of recovery and the cycling was very enjoyable. Because my route crossed over itself my voice instructions started taking me back to Lonlay-lʼAbbaye prematurely meaning some re-planning was required. A great day out and one I might repeat if only to do the proper route.
